Film Think You Can Represent Nashville's Art Scene? Enter NaFF's 'Nashville Unveiled ? Take One Video Festival Contest'

Think you've got what it takes to represent this city's art scene in video form? Nashville Film Festival and 5th Avenue of the Arts want to see it. Make an original video connected to the theme of "The Arts Scene in Nashville,? upload it onto YouTube, then post it on NaFF's Facebook page. Winners will be announced at the April art crawl, and you'll get bragging rights and artsy swag like gallery gift certificates.You've got until March 25 to come up with something great. I'm holding out hope that there will be some crossover with the local LARP (Live Action Roleplay) group that also goes by Nashville Unveiled, mainly because I'd love to see more swordfighting and pretend-vampires downtown.

Winners Announced First Saturday Art Crawl ? April 6, 6PM-9PM
Nashville, TN (Winter 2013) ? Nashville Film Festival (NaFF) and 5th Avenue of the Arts/Downtown Nashville are jointly presenting a new opportunity for filmmakers, entitled Nashville Unveiled ? Take One Video Festival Contest (NUVC). Sponsored by Nashville Arts Magazine, the contest is a chance for professionals and/or amateurs to create a short film/video with the content connected to the theme, ?The Arts Scene in Nashville.? Entry forms can be printed out (or photocopied) from the competition website at www.nashvillefilmfestival.org.
Deadline for entries is Monday, March 25, 2013. Entry fee is free. Short film or video entry must be submitted online via You Tube to the Nashville Film Festival Facebook page at www.facebook.com/NashFilmFest. The filmmaker will be given complete artistic latitude to discover and express their own imaginative interpretation of how Music City is being impacted by the visual arts. The NUVC competition is a new Tennessee-Only short video competition open to all Tennessee residents. During First Saturday Art Crawl, April 6, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Nashville Film Festival and 5th Avenue of the Arts will announce the winners.The videos should be a maximum 3-minutes (smart phone/IPhone videos encouraged) ? No need for expensive film equipment or editing! The videos can be one take. Entrants are encouraged to create an original story idea and shoot the video with their phone, or any other video recording device. Silent films are allowed. All entries to be judged based on 3 areas: Content Originality (compelling storyline), Production (Camera work, lighting, and shot composition), and Overall Impression.
The first-place winner will receive a full-festival laminate for the Nashville Film Festival in April 2013 (value $499). In addition, 5th Avenue of the Arts will provide the winner with a $500 gift certificate to spend at The Arts Company, The Rymer Gallery, or Tinney Contemporary. The winning short film will be screened during the April 6, 2013 First Saturday Art Crawl, and be showcased on the Nashville Film Festival website. Nashville Arts Magazine will highlight the winner in its May 2013 issue. The grand prize also includes a free yearlong membership to the Frist Center for the Visual Arts.
The second and third-place winners will receive tickets to Nashville Film Festival 2013 film and/or panels, and 50-dollar gift certificates to the 5th Avenue of the Arts anchor galleries, and free yearlong memberships to the Frist Center for the Visual Arts. All Winners and Top Honorable Mentions will have their short films screened at April 6 First Saturday Art Crawl during the Official Nashville Film Festival Preview at The Arts Company.
