Celebs using gay slurs

7:15 AM EST 1/9/2013 by Danielle Canada

After Azealia Banks nearly crashed the internet with her use of the term ?f?-t? a number of people are speaking out against her. Most recently GLAAD or the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation released a statement asking the rapper to apologize for her words after the rapper publicly feuded with blogger Perez Hilton.?lol what a messy f?-t you are,? tweeted Banks to Hilton during a heated Twitter beef.

?Sweetie, you?re not ignorant. You know you shouldn?t call me the F word,? said Hilton. ?That AND wishing I die? You hoping I get AIDS next??

Now according to GLAAD and several other people, that gay slur should be completely off limits.

?As far as we?ve come in this society, seeing it used by an artist many young people may look up to is painful, but even more so for those young fans, many of whom GLAAD has heard from,? Matt Kane, associate director of entertainment media at GLAAD, said in an official press release. ?Undoubtedly there are gay kids who follow her on Twitter who hear this word in an entirely different context. This word is used almost universally by bullies, often as part of a larger verbal or physical assault. This word hurts those kids, no matter what Banks meant by it.?

Banks has since apologized for the slur but stands by her comment to the gossip monger. ?My most sincere apologies to anyone who was indirectly offended by my foul language. Not sorry for Perez tho. Lol,? she tweeted.

Like Banks several celebs have been called out over the years for their use of the highly offensive term. Check out just a few of them who were caught in recent years. ?danielle canada
