Sports medicine partnership announced

Statement as issued Tuesday by Parkview Health:

Fort Wayne, Ind. ? Tuesday, July 23, 2013 ? Parkview Health today announced a new collaboration with sports medicine experts from a variety of specialties. Parkview Sports Medicine will offer a continuum of care approach for athletes, providing training, treatment and education for sports enthusiasts at all levels. The programs will serve athletes of all ages providing opportunities to those just beginning their athletic careers, to those who just enjoy staying active and are looking to maintain certain aspects of their competitive edge.

?Today?s young athlete is bigger, faster and stronger, putting a demand on their body like never before,? said Dr. Alan McGee, M.D., Ortho NorthEast. ?This unique approach and collaboration gives northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio athletes access to a spectrum of care previously not available. Not only will they have access to a specialized plan of treatment if they?re injured, Parkview Sports Medicine gives area athletes a dream team, bringing together sports medicine experts to improve the overall athletic performance of athletes around the area helping them reach the next level of competition.?

Parkview Sports Medicine (PSM) is a collaboration between SportONE Orthopedics, AWP Sports Training, Parkview Athletic Rehabilitation and Parkview Physicians Group. Also included in the PSM reach are affiliated physicians, therapists, trainers, businesses, sports facilities, teams and families. Partnerships have been developed with The Plex, SportONE/Parkview Fieldhouse, the Fort Wayne TinCaps, Spiece Fieldhouse, The Diamond and Max Fitness.
