Those Amazing Hovercraft Golf Carts Won't Be as Cool as You Thought

Windy Knoll golf course has the one thing every last golfer craves. Because human beings can't be trusted with nice things, they had to make the hovercraft experience a little less cool than we imagined.?

Ever since Windy Knoll announced they would bring two hovercraft golf carts to their course, fans have been trying to figure out the specifics.?

Thanks to ESPN's Darren Rovell (h/t SI.com), we now know at least some of the hovercraft aspects were too good to be true.?

The single tear that trickles onto my keyboard tells me that I am indeed disappointed.?

Let's go back to the beginning, when the golf world had their interest good and piqued with Bubba Watson's amazing hovercraft video.?

Every golfer in the world then cried out, "Why not me?"

The good people over at Windy Knoll answered the call in the form of two hovercrafts that will be available this weekend.?

Earlier this month, Golf Channel's Jason Sobel wrote, "The one-of-a-kind item is no longer one-of-a-kind, as Windy Knoll Golf Club in Springfield, Ohio, will become the first course in the United States to have two hovercraft carts available for public use."

It would have seemed that crossing that elusive "drive a hovercraft" item off your bucket list was just a plane ride away.?

Well, not so much.?

Now before we continue, we have to say it's pretty smart of the golf course to mandate trained caddies to squire golfers about.?

Just think how many times you have seen golfers nearly crash regular golf carts, and you will soon agree that people can be the worst.?

There is also the actual environment to consider.

Only a Game (h/t SportsGrid) reports on that very thing:?

?We are having some trees removed. We are having certain areas where there are things sticking out of the ground near or around where carts frequent at this point [cleaned up] ? we do not want to take the chance of being snagged on the air bladder,? Duffey said. ?There will be a couple of lakes on the course that we are going to designate for the hovers to pass over. This is all still very new. There?s a lot of planning we?re going through as we speak.?

Perhaps the most important addition will be ways to distinguish where hovers can and can?t go. Otherwise, accidents could become the norm.

Essentially, hovercrafts can't go just anywhere and you can't trust some weekend warrior to abide by every last rule. (We are looking at you, Mr. Drives the Cart Onto the Green)

Please don't let this get you down, because Rovell looks pretty happy?even while tweeting?in the Windy Knoll hovercrafts.?

Sure, you may not get to drive the cart, but riding shotgun in a golf cart is always more preferable anyway.?
